TEFC Motor FAQ

What is TEFC motor and why is it better?

TEFC stands for Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled. The motor is completely sealed — no openings for dust, water or insects to enter. An external fan cools it. This makes it ideal for outdoor agricultural use, dusty pump rooms and light rain exposure — far more durable than open-frame motors.

Single phase or three phase — which to choose?

Single phase (230V) is for home use where only domestic supply is available. Three phase (415V) is more efficient, starts easier and is preferred for agriculture above 2 HP where 3-phase connection is available. If you have an agricultural power connection (kutir jyothi or ag meter), use three phase.

What does IE2/IE3 efficiency mean in practice?

IE2 and IE3 are international energy efficiency standards. An IE3 motor running a 3 HP pump for 8 hours/day saves approximately ₹3,000–5,000 per year compared to a standard motor — paying for itself in 2–3 years through lower electricity bills. All Vartali motors meet IE2 minimum.

Can I use a TEFC motor to replace my old motor?

Yes — TEFC motors are available in IEC standard frame sizes (56 to 132) which are compatible with most existing pump bases. Bring your old motor nameplate details (HP, RPM, frame size) and we match it exactly. Our engineer can also visit to verify fitment before purchase.

Do you do motor rewinding service?

Yes — we rewind motors of all brands up to 7 HP at our Guntur service center. Rewinding restores the motor to near-original efficiency. Service above ₹5,000 is free of service charge (current offer). Call 99664 01116 for rewinding quote.
